Wild Woolly Photography is about getting that special shot; wIldlife, landscapes, birdlife, and even scary critters...
From a very young age I have always felt compelled to explore and interact with the wild and natural places around me. As an outdoor educator and backcountry leader I feel most alive emersed in wild places. Helping people better experience wild places; and why they are important is my passion. As a trail crew leader, park superintendent and forest ranger, my life has revolved around wild places and the plants and animals therein. I remember catching birds in my parents' backyard with makeshift traps; roaming the woods around my Arkansas home and floating the creeks on a makeshift raft. For as long as I can remember I have toted around a camera-and as technology imerged, a whole new world opened up to me as I began to capture nature in a completely new way; digitally.
Many years later I continue to seek out nature in my professional and personal life behind the eye of the camera. I have been able to gain immense perspective while simultaneously loosing some of the freedom that flows from nature. Capturing solid images of wildlife is not easy. It is a strange dichotomy of give and take as I continue striving to reach some sort of balance between my own limitations, the camera's and my attempt to represent what is true. It is my hope that you enjoy the wild places and things on my site..
Sincerely,
